ASA AGRÍCOLA ÁGUIA DE MOURA

Casa Agrícola Águia de Moura is located in Upper Corgo in an area called "Martim’s Place". This area is located in the Douro Region between Barqueiros (on the North bank of the Douro) and Barrô (on the South bank), to the point where the Corgo River and the Ribeiro de Temilobos meet and flow into the Douro at Régua. This is a very special area that is characterised by schistous slopes with excellent sun exposure at an altitude of 500m. The area, which was formed in 1856, has the largest amount of land under vines. Today these are compiled into one single property, producing wines of quality, selected from traditional grape varieties.

This Quinta has a vineyard area of 30ha, of which 9ha are "Old Vines" (50+ years), and has been a part of the Águia Moura family since 1930. The vineyards are divided into plots according to grape varieties: 80% whites, mostly Viozinho, Códega do Larinho, Rabigato and Arinto; and 20% reds, mostly Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca and Touriga Franca. This is an area that produces great red wines and exquisite white wines.

Winemaking is done under the orientation of the winemaker Francisco Baptista. The vinification centre is located near the vineyards, well integrated into the landscape, and is nestled against a hill. The intent was to make wine using gravity and eliminating the possible use of pumps.
