Martta Reis Simões discovered her vocation for oenology naturally, a result of her strong connection to the land and vineyards since childhood, through the influence of her family. Close contact with wine sparked her curiosity and led her to pursue a degree in Oenology at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro.

After working for prestigious producers such as Quinta do Noval and Quinta da Romeira in Bucelas, she joined the Quinta da Alorna team in 2003, assuming the role of chief winemaker in 2010.

She was twice distinguished as Winemaker of the Year by the Tejo Regional Wine Commission, in 2012 and 2017, thus recognizing her contribution to the valorization and recognition of the Fernão Pires and Castelão grape varieties.

She currently combines consulting projects in Portugal and abroad with the Tasting Panel of the Tejo Wine Region Commission.
