Beverage sector in Portugal is dominated by Wine

According to the report of the Bank of Portugal, published January 27, the manufacture of beverages sector comprised around 1,000 enterprises  in 2015, i.e. 0.3 per cent of total enterprises in Portugal. Wine accounted for the highest share of enterprises (88 per cent).

INE SEGMENT IN PORTUGAL

A study made by the Bank of Portugal, states that in 2015 the Portuguese beverage sector was comprised of nearly 1,000 companies. 88 per cent belonged to the wine segment.

The turnover of wines was 52 per cent and wine was responsible for 64 per cent of the number of people employed in the beverage sector.

In 2015, the turnover of the beverage industry increased by 2% and return on equity amounted to 5%. Wine contributed to the result with a 3% growth.

The study, published online January 27, concludes that the export sector continues to grow and accounted for 64 per cent of the sector’s turnover and 53 per cent of the number of employees.
